How to Backup Kodi from a Local Drive with Handy Backup

To backup Kodi, begin by locating the folder where your Kodi app stores its data.

For Windows backup, the folder is located at:

%APPDATA%\kodi\userdata

For Linux backup, the default location is:

~/.kodi/userdata/

Note: These folders are hidden by default! Handy Backup can access this directory, but you won’t be able to locate it using a standard file browser like Windows Explorer unless you enable the option to show hidden files and folders.

Launch Handy Backup. Create a new task by clicking the button on the main control panel, using the menu, or by pressing Ctrl+N simultaneously.
In Step 1, choose the backup task type and click "Next" to proceed to Step 2.
In Step 2, open the "Local or Network Drive" section and select the "Computer" plugin.

Browse the list of drives and folders to locate the folder containing Kodi libraries, enabling you to perform a seamless application backup.
Check the box next to the name of this folder.
Click "OK" to return to Step 2, then click "Next" to proceed.

How to Restore Kodi Data

This process is the reverse of creating a Kodi backup. To restore Kodi, create a new task and select the restoration task type in Step 1. Then, follow the steps outlined below.

In Step 2, open your Kodi backup storage and locate the file named backup.hbi.

Double-click the file name. A restoration dialog will appear.
By default, when you click "OK," the program will restore all files to their original location—the same folder from which the Kodi backup was made.
If you want to change the restoration location, click the "Change Location" button and select a new location in the dialog that appears.
After confirming the restore location, proceed with creating your restoration task according to the User Manual.
