What is SAP HANA Cockpit?

SAP HANA Cockpit is an administrative tool with a web interface for a correspondingly named database engine, a part of SAP ERP software. It allows both offline and cloud operations for managing databases, including such things as SAP HANA backup, security issues and overall monitoring actions.

The Concept of SAP HANA Cloud Cockpit

The primary purpose of SAP HANA cloud platform cockpit is to provide a Web-based GUI for SAP HANA database administrators. Using this interface, an administrator can make all necessary operations with a SAP HANA instance, including managing databases, monitoring performance and security, backup etc.

SAP HANA Cockpit URL

To enter a Cockpit, a user must firstly call a corresponding URL on any browser connected to a particular SAP HANA network. For single-container systems, this URL takes either of these forms:

  • https://:43/sap/hana/admin/cockpit - for secured connection.
  • http://:80/sap/hana/admin/cockpit - for simple connection.

Caveat!

Caveat! We are strongly recommending using the secured connection everywhere it is possible!

For multiple-container systems, a user must publish all tenant database names prior to accessing it via SAP HANA cockpit, and then alter the state of each database to provide an access via the port 80 as described above. SAP HANA user manual explains this procedure in details; please refer to it.
