Please note that this is a BETA version, so some features may not function as expected, and the installation process might require additional steps.
Installing the Handy Backup Web Version
- Ensure that JDK 17 or a later version is installed on your computer.
- Download the Handy Backup web application from the following link: https://dl.handybackup.net/web-ui-handybackup.jar.
- Open your terminal or command prompt and execute the following command:
java -jar web-ui-handybackup.jar
Important: By default, the command line opens in the C:\Users\[username] folder, and the distribution file should be located there. If you’ve changed the path, move the distribution to the correct folder.
- Once the command is executed, a browser window will open with login fields. To keep the web interface active, minimize the command prompt without closing it.
If the window doesn't open automatically, manually open your browser and enter http://localhost:8080/ in the address bar.
Important: Ensure that port 8080 is not already in use by another application. If it is, change the port in the settings and try again.
- Log in using your computer’s username and password, and provide the Handy Backup server address (if it's installed on a different machine). The remote computer with the desktop version of Handy Backup must be running to access the web interface.
Important: Tasks in Handy Backup are associated with a specific user. Ensure you know the exact username under which the tasks were created. The login must be entered in the correct format.
- Once set up, any changes or tasks created in the web interface will automatically sync and appear in the local Handy Backup interface on your computer.
Interface Details
- The main dashboard window utilizes a drag-and-drop system by default, allowing users to easily add files to tasks by dragging them.
- For users who prefer a more traditional layout, a standard view option is available. Simply select "Tasks" from the left-hand menu to switch to this view.
