RC4, RC5, RC6 Encryption Algorithms and Software

RC4, RC5 and RC6 are the algorithms of a symmetric encryption. These solutions are different from each other in terms of methods and approaches used for data encryption. Handy Backup can provide all necessary functions to back up your RSA software data when you need it.

  • RC4 is a variable key-size stream cipher with byte-oriented operations. The algorithm uses a random permutation for data.
  • RC5 is a parameterized algorithm implementing a 32-, 64- or 128-bit blocks, a variable key size, and a variable number of rounds.
  • RC6 uses the RC5 with an addition of an integer multiplication and implementing the four 4-bit working registers instead of RC5’s two 2-bit registers.

These encrypting solutions are widely implemented in some areas, including websites based on Joomla CMS and some other solutions.

RSA Backup

Users can transfer the information secured by RC4/RC5/RC6 without a need for extra security measures, as these algorithms are very effective for data protection. This can be useful for secure backup, as it allows saving backup time from additional encryption measures.

Sometimes, a user can also want to back up the database controlling RC4, RC5 or RC6 data. To do it with Handy Backup, please find the database created by RSA Authentication Manager (the one of the three key components of RSA encryption software) and back it up using the “Computer” option.

When Handy Backup Can Help RSA Users Backing up Their Encryption Data?

The answer is simple. When you are planning to renew or to upgrade your RSA control software, please make a backup of all RSA data firstly. This can save all RC4/RC5/RC6 keys and encryption features intact, regardless of any events that can occur during replacing your RSA package.
