Handy Backup Disaster Recovery is an extension to Handy Backup that lets you back up and restore your drives independently from your main operating system. It is installed on an external USB drive through the use of Disaster Recovery Installation Kit.

Installation Packages

Handy Backup Disaster Recovery consists of two parts: Environment and Application.

  • Environment: version 2.0 (built on July 11, 2014). Download size: 273 MB. This part is rarely updated.
  • Application: version 1.5 (built on July 11, 2014). Download size: 38 MB. All future modifications will apply to this part of the program.

During setup, the Installation Kit downloads installation packages for these two parts, and then installs them to a Flash or USB drive.

Downloading Process

When you are prompted to specify download location, select a folder that you’re unlikely to forget. We suggest downloading to Documents, as the distribution file can be easily found then.

How to Install

To install Handy Backup Disaster Recovery, run the Installation Kit and follow instructions of the Wizard:

  1. Click Download to let the Installation Kit download required packages.
  2. When you are prompted to insert a drive, insert a Flash or USB drive.
  3. After the installation, you can use the drive to boot up your computer and restore backups made with Handy Backup.

Note: It is recommended to not delete installation packages, as otherwise updating the application will require you to download them again.
